You cannot use SharePoint. Your System Administrator has turned off that feature

One of my user was trying to use the outlook integration feature of sharepoint(action-connect to outlook). Everybody knows that we use this feature to connect our list's and libraries to open in outlook. See over here, we need to understand that this is not a problem of sharepoint but its a design behaviour of outlook 2007. Why this is a design behaviour if it works perfectly fine with Outlook 2003 ?

The answer to your question is this post which is written by Jose Barreto:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/josebda/archive/2007/01/27/enabling-and-disabling-sharepoint-integration-in-outlook-2007.aspx

For outlook 2003, Microsoft has already published an article which is an awesome one: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/831057

Jose Barreto clearly explains that Office 2007 setup carried that setting from the old 2003 location and that's why it was there in the first place, even though nobody (but Office 2007 Setup and Outlook 2007) knew the new location.

I hope the above mentioned information is pretty much clear to understand as well as resolves your issue. Please let me know in case of any queries/issues/questions. I would be more than happy to help you as well as resolves your issues, thank you J

Edit in Datasheet View in Sharepoint without MS Office installed

Why you cannot view a list in Datasheet view on a Windows SharePoint Services Web site ? I know everybody knows the answers:

This behavior occurs if one or more if the following conditions are true:
•A datasheet component that is compatible with Windows SharePoint Services is not installed.
A Microsoft Office Professional edition is not installed on the computer. •The Web browser does not support ActiveX controls.
•Support for ActiveX controls is disabled.

Edit in datasheet gives you the way by which you can perform bulk updates and deletes. But the problem or you call it as necessity that Office package should be insatalled on your machine.

but what if-you dont have a office installed on your machine and you need to do some important work. Dont worry-Here is the solution:
You just have to install the AccessDatabaseEngine from Microsoft and it will give you the edit in datasheet mode.

You can download the database engine from the following location:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=C06B8369-60DD-4B64-A44B-84B371EDE16D&displaylang=en

I hope the above mentioned information will be usefull to you as well as resolves the issue when requirement arises. Please let me know in case of any issues/queries/questions.

SharePoint Column/View Permission

As we all aware that there is no out of box way in sharepoint by which we can achieve column level permissions. but would like to highlight one third party utility which will be very effective and fullfill all the requirements.

You can get this utility here : SharePointBoost

What are the benefits:
----------------------------
1. SharePoint administrators can now assign to Users and User Groups all relative permissions at Columns-and Views-level.
2. Permissions can even be defined using conditions, so that the values of certain fields determine permissions dynamically.
3. Permissions settings can be imported or exported as XML file for easy management and batch permissions assignment.

SharePoint Column/View Permission provides further protection on list columns and views than the SharePoint permission system does. Using it, you can safeguard the confidential column contents from access and edition by unauthorized users.

Main highlights:
-------------------
1. Hide or read-only columns in a list
2. Hide or read-only views in a list
3. Set Permissions According to Conditions
4. Hide columns in Alert Me email
5. Add Extral Protection against Access from Web Services

I hope the above mentioned information is pretty much clear regarding the SharePoint column permisisons utility.http://www.sharepointboost.com/columnpermission.html

The List Cannot be Displayed in Datasheet view.....

Display a list in Datasheet view. Datasheet view requires that you have a Windows SharePoint Services-compatible datasheet program installed, such as Microsoft Office 2010 Professional. Datasheet view lets you add, delete, and update list entries just as you would in a spreadsheet program, such as Microsoft Office Excel 2010. Come across such issue that belongs to datasheet view and details are as follows:

As we all know that SharePoint list consist of two views by default: Standard view and datasheet view. The standerd view is working fine without any issues but when i changed the view from standerd view to datasheet view then i faced the below mentioned problem | error message:

The list cannot be displayed in Datasheet view for one or more of the following reasons:
•A datasheet component compatible with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation is not installed.
•Your Web browser does not support ActiveX controls.
•A component is not properly configured for 32-bit or 64-bit support.

Configuration:-
-Machine OS: Windows 7 (64 bit)
-Office installed: Office 2010 (64 bit)
-IE version: IE8.0

Resolution:
Issue has been resolved because of this post

You can solve the issue by installing the “2007 Office System Driver: Data Connectivity Components” downloadable under:http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/confirmation.aspx?displaylang=en&id=23734

Why this issue occurs:
The ActiveX control for the Datasheet view is not compatible with Office 64-bit versions.

what is imporant to note:
Microsoft strongly recommends the use of 32-bit (x86) versions of Office 2010, Project 2010, and Visio 2010 applications as the default option for all platforms.
Office 2010 64 bits will not be required in most of the scenarios.

Note: DataSheet is an ActiveX control so it would work with only Internet Explorer.

I hope the above mentioned information is pretty much clear to resolve the issue but still in case of any doubts/queries/questions then please let me know.
I would be more than happy to help you as well as resolves your issues, Thank you

Sharepoint list columns not visible in datasheet view

Display a list in Datasheet view. Datasheet view requires that you have a Windows SharePoint Services-compatible datasheet program installed, such as Microsoft Office 2003 Professional. Datasheet view lets you add, delete, and update list entries just as you would in a spreadsheet program, such as Microsoft Office Excel 2003. Come across such issue that belongs to datasheet view and details are as follows:

ISSUE:
Some list columns are not visible in datasheet view

CAUSE:
This issue can be observed only if following is true:
1. Office 2003 is the primary office package installed at user workstation
2. List contains columns in which multiple values are allowed.

Multi-valued columns are not visible in datasheet view if you have office 2003 installed.

This is a by-design behavior.

RESOLUTION:
Any of the following is applicable to resolve this issue:
1. A feature needs to be installed called "Microsoft Office Access Web Datasheet Component". This feature can be found in the installation UI as a sub-feature of "Windows SharePoint Services Support".
2. Install “Access Runtime” which can be found http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=4438
3. Upgrade office package to version 2007

If you have any queries/questions regarding the above mentioned information then please let me know. I would be more than happy to help you as well as resolves your issues, thank you
